Two finalists in the superintendent search were selected by school trustees this week.
The Yazoo City Municipal School District trustees selected Dr. Darron Edwards and Angela Jones as its top two candidates Monday afternoon.
Dr. Edwards is the superintendent of the West Tallahatchie School District in Webb.
Jones serves as a school improvement officer with the Coahoma Agricultural High School in Clarksdale.
Interim Supertinendent Lucille Lovette was not selected as a finalist for the position,
“We, as a board, selected them,” said board president John Wallace.
Wallace also reminds the public that there will be a meet-and-greet with Edwards and Jones on Monday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. at McCoy Elementary School.
“People will be issued rating sheets with ratings 1 to 5 on several different subject areas,” Wallace said. “Those sheets will be given back the board members. We will take those rating sheets to help with our decision.”
Wallace said the audience will not be able to ask questions.
“The candidates will address the audience in a five-minute session,” he added.
Wallace said the superintendent post will be filled in the weeks following the community input session.
