The death of an inmate last week at the Yazoo City Federal Correctional Institution is currently being investigated as a murder by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The FBI launched the investigation after an inmate was pronounced dead last Monday.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Tung Nguyen, 44, died from blunt force trauma.
Brett Carr, Public Affairs Specialist for the FBI, said the case is being investigated as a murder at this time.
“The FBI has jurisdiction to investigate the most serious crimes that happen within our federal prison system, and we are working with the Bureau of Prisons to investigate the murder in the Federal Correctional Institution in Yazoo City,” Carr said.
