A 79-year-old Yazoo City was found murdered at his home on East Seventh Street earlier this week.
King Ball died from multiple gunshot wounds. A neighbor reported finding his body at 323 East Seventh Street Wednesday morning.
Cpt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said no arrests or charges had been made as of press time.
Nevels said Ball’s body was found inside his home, and it doesn’t appear that there was a struggle.
“We don’t know if this was a random act or something following an altercation,” Nevels said. “We do have witnesses we are speaking with who heard the gunshots but saw nothing.”
Nevels said people had been brought in for questioning, but it didn’t lead to anything concrete.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has also been called in to assist.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said that the State Medical Examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to assist in the investigation.
