A Durant man has been charged with capital murder, and the crime is believed to have taken place in Yazoo County.
Dexter White Jr., 21, was charged with capital murder and accessory before the fact.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the case is now being handled by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations.
“We originally thought the murder took place in Holmes County,” Gann said. “But by Friday, we learned it happened in Yazoo County. It is still an ongoing investigation.”
Gann could not comment further on the case since MBI is conducting the investigation.
Representatives with the MBI did not return phone calls or emails by press time Thursday.
“We have one suspect who has been charged, and possibly more charges will come for others,” Gann added.
White was being held in the Yazoo County Correctional Facility at press time.
