Yazoo County deputies arrested a man in Starkville, who is believed to have been involved in a murder that occurred in Yazoo County.
Details were vague as of press time, but Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the arrest stems from a murder that occurred on Highway 432 near the interstate.
Doran Jones was charged with capital murder, accessory before the fact and accessory after the fact. Dexter White has also been charged with capital murder in this case.
“The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is handling this case, and they originally thought the murder occurred in Holmes County,” Gann said. “Through their investigation, they found out the murder occurred in Yazoo County instead.”
Corey Thomas was murdered several months ago, and investigators began receiving tips on the case last August. The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation by arresting Jones in Starkville last month.
“We are letting MBI continue the investigation at this point,” Gann said.
Numerous phone calls to the MBI were not returned by press time.
