Renovations and beautification efforts are in the works for the Triangle Cultural Center thanks to a recent partnership between the city and the Yazoo County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
In a recent meeting, the CVB Board of Directors approved $25,000 of its budget to be geared towards special projects, specifically the historic Triangle Cultural Center.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen has also approved hiring a contractor to determine what is causing recent water leaks to the Triangle’s roof.
During Monday’s city council meeting, Mayor Diane Delaware thanked the CVB board for its contribution towards the Triangle.
“This building is an elementary school that actually educated a large population of our citizens, and it has now become our cultural center,” Delaware said. “It needs attention. The city is certainly going to buy the attention that it can, and it should. But I want to thank the Convention and Visitors Bureau who has dedicated of its budget $25,000 to the Triangle board.”
Delaware said the recent partnership will benefit both locals and visitors to the community.
“It is meant to improve tourism and culture in the city of Yazoo City,” she said. “We are going to focus our efforts on getting this building back to a standard. I want to thank the CVB for that.”
