The Yazoo County Circuit Clerk’s office has received one qualifying packet for the upcoming county prosecutor post.
Circuit Clerk Robert Coleman said he received the qualifying papers from Mary Cotton this week.
The qualifying deadline for the county prosecutor post is Sept. 8. The special election will be held on Nov. 7.
“It will be a general election with no primaries at that time,” Coleman said.
The post was held by local attorney Dick Rohman, who recently resigned from the position. Attorney and former District Attorney Steven Waldrop was then appointed to the post and will serve until the general election.
As of press time, Waldrop had not submitted a qualifying packet.
