Six nominations have been appointed to local boards and committees during by the city.
With many terms expiring and some posts left vacant, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen appointed a few returning and new members to a variety of municipal boards. The appointments come following a new city ordinance that requires all nominations to provide paperwork citing eligibility and qualification, as well as attendance to mandatory training sessions.
Some of those board posts remain open due to lack of qualification either by non-eligibility or lack of attendance to the required board training.
Housing Authority
Within the Yazoo City Housing Authority, standing member Carolyn Johnson was reappointed to her post.
Parks & Recreation
A vacant post on the Parks and Recreation Commission was filled with the appointment of Delosia Miller.
Public Service
Commission
Dr. William Nelson returns to his post on the Public Service Commission, with Eddie Joe Alias being replaced by Robert Coleman.
Patti Wright
Patti Wright was appointed to Eugene Fouche’s post on the Port Commission. The city council noted that Wright is the first African-American female to be appointed to that commission.
Keep Yazoo Beautiful
Kiristi Mills was also appointed to the Keep Yazoo Beautiful Commission.
Historical Preservation
And Yolanda Pope was appointed to the Historical Preservation Committee.
Other Boards
City leaders tabled the appointment of four seats on the Triangle Cultural Center Board. Those four seats have terms that expire this month.
Three seats on the Planning and Zoning Board will also have expiring terms this month, but no appointments were recently made because no one met the procedural requirements for the positions.
No appointments were also made to the Election Commission or the Examining Board.
