City leaders made several appointments to four separate committees during its Friday meeting.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen have made recent efforts to follow the proper procedures to ensure each city board is equally represented and that each member serves the correct tenure.
Richard Griffin was reappointed to the Housing Authority with no opposition.
Eddie Alias was also reappointed to the Public Service Commission Board of Commissioners. Aldermen Ron Johnson and Gregory Robertson abstained from voting.
With the Triangle Cultural Center Board, each alderman may appoint a person for a two-year term. However, the mayor’s appointment serves a three-year term.
Linda Carter resigned from the Triangle Board, and former member Sarah Sheffield was replaced during Friday’s meeting. Johnson appointed Joe Thomas Jr. with Mayor Diane Delaware casting the sole opposing vote. Alderman Dr. Jack Varner appointed Bettye Crout. Robertson appointed Queen Street. And Alderman Aubry Brent Jr. appointed Willie Mae Coleman.
Yolanda Strong was also appointed to the Keep Yazoo Beautiful Committee.
