City leaders made appointments to the Public Service Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission boards last week .
Marcus Straughter will serve on the Parks and Recreation Board, and Johnny Wilson will serve on the PSC Board.
The board first considered the vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The spot will be held for the next three years after the recent resignation of board member Chad Jones.
Straughter and Magnolia Thomas were both nominated for the recreation commission.
On a 4-1 vote, Straughter was appointed to the recreation commission.
Alderman Aubry Brent Jr. was the only board member to vote for Thomas, who he also nominated.
On the Public Service Commission’s Board of Commissioners, four nominations were made to fill the open seat.
Michael Lewis, Johnny Wilson, Charles “Mickey” O’Reilly and Joe Freeman were nominated for the PSC board.
After an elimination process through voting, Johnny Wilson was appointed to the PSC board on a 3-2 vote, with Aldermen Dr. Jack Varner and Brent in opposition.
