Deputies arrested a Yazoo City man wanted for a Humphreys County burglary who was also in possession of a possible stolen gun.
Glen Bassett, 35, was charged with burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said a warrant was issued for Bassett’s arrest in connection with a Humphreys County burglary.
“He was identified by photographs taken at the property,” Gann said. “Deputies spotted him in a vehicle and pulled him over. He was in possession of a .22 rifle with the serial number filed off.”
Gann said investigators feel the rifle was stolen since the serial number was filed off. The rifle has been sent to the state crime lab to have the serial number restored.
