Things just got sticky for the Bubblegum Bandit as local police officers put an end to his spree of burglaries.
Casey Lang, of Jackson, was charged with burglary and uttering forgery after his arrest on April 27.
Chief Jeff Curtis said Lang has been dubbed the “Bubblegum Bandit” due to his apparent obsession with breaking into businesses and robbing coin operated vending machines.
“Along with stealing from vending machines located in local businesses, Lang also had stolen checks from at least one of the businesses he is accused of burglarizing,” Curtis said. “He cashed them at local banks, earning uttering forgery charges to his list of crimes.”
Curtis said investigators have determined that Lang is responsible for the following business burglaries:
• Gilbert Lumber Supply
• Big D’s Wrecker Service
• Greenthumbs on 15th Street
• El Palenque Mexican Restaurant on Canal Street
• Family Dollar Store on Broadway
• Bottom’s Up on South Main Street
• Napa Auto Parts on Washington Street
• Canal Street Laundromat
• Yazoo City Post Office on North Main Street
“The investigation is still ongoing,” Curtis said. “It may produce more charges against Lang.”
