A suspect is in jail with a $100,000 bond after being charged with sexual battery and statutory rape.
Allen Jones, 25, was arrested by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department after an alleged sexual assault on an adult and statutory rape involving a minor.
Sheriff Jake Sheriff said the incident took place on Fletcher’s Chapel Road. Sheriff said additional charges may be added.
Justice Court Judge Bennie K. Warrington set the bond for Jones.
Jones remains in the Yazoo County Jail.
In other law enforcement news, Sheriff urges Yazoo County residents to use designated drivers when drinking alcoholic beverages.
“Incidents of drinking and driving seem to increase in the warmer months, and it’s not worth it,” Sheriff said. “We have a DUI enforcement officer, and all of our deputies are watching for drunk drivers.”
