Investigators believe it was the same suspect who stole several propane tanks from a gas station and a cast iron pot from a hair salon last month.
“We are very close to charging a suspect in this case,” said Capt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department. “Based on clear video evidence, we know that it was the same suspect in both incidents.”
The first theft occurred at the Shell gas station on Grand Avenue and 15th Street. A vehicle pulled up to the gas station, and the suspect stole 15 propane tanks located in a cage outside the store, shoving them into the vehicle.”
“Most of those tanks have been recovered thanks to the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department for allowing Sgt. Artis Harris and Sgt. Joseph Branch to pursue the investigation into the county,” Nevels said.
The second theft occurred moments later at Kathy’s Corner Attractions, located next door.
“We have clear video evidence for both incidents,” Nevels said.
