Many Yazoo County property owners have been surprised, and in some cases upset, to discover delinquent tax notices in their mailbox when they've received no prior notifications.
Those notices were sent in error.
Yazoo County Tax Collector Tommy Irvine said that the company that prints the tax notices accidentally marked every notice as delinquent. Irvine said the notices are supposed to be the regular tax bill that property owners would be receiving at this time.
"Your taxes are not delinquent," Irvine said. "Anyone with any questions can call our office at 746-1583, and we will be glad to help."
