The annual celebration for Martin Luther King Jr. Day will look a little different this year in an effort to protect participants from COVID-19.
This year’s event is set for Jan. 18 at 8 a.m. in Benton. Participants will gather near Berry’s store.
Instead of marching to Oak Grove AME Church on MS Highway 16 this year, participants will ride in vehicles.
Rev. Willie Washington said that everyone is asked to remain inside their vehicles for the program once they reach the church.
“Please wear your mask at all times, and practice social distancing,” he said.
