The body of a Yazoo City man was found gunned down in the parking lot of a local movie theater last weekend, marking the community’s first murder of the new year.
DeAngelo Brown, 24, of Yazoo City, was pronounced dead on the scene in the Twin Plaza Cinema parking lot early Saturday morning.
As of press time, no arrest had been made in connection with the murder.
“This is still an active, ongoing investigation,” said Police Chief Jeff Curtis. “We are still interviewing anyone who may have knowledge of what happened.”
Brown’s body was discovered by a business owner as she pulled into the parking lot Saturday morning. Medstat and police officers were immediately notified, along with Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers.
“He was found with gunshot wounds,” Curtis confirmed.
An autopsy will be performed in Pearl to determine the official cause of death.
