Almost nine months after DeAngelo Gant Brown was found murdered in Yazoo City, a group of family and friends gathered to demand justice.
“It’s killing us,” said his mother, Melissa Gant. “We think about him every day, and it hurts so bad.”
At a rally held Saturday morning in front of the Yazoo City Police Department Melissa Gant said that she is frustrated by the lack of communication with investigators. She said she fears that her concerns about the case are being unheard.
Sir Jonathan Rucker, who organized the rally, said it is important for those who are mourning Brown’s loss to keep attention on the case. He said that if local investigators have reached a point where they aren’t finding any new leads, the case should be turned over to state investigators.
“We want justice for DeAngelo, and we’re not going to be silent about it,” Rucker said. “This is a movement.”
Brown, 24, was found murdered in the movie theater parking lot in Yazoo City in February. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
