Satartia First (FBC Satartia) is kicking off its new school adoption program. Bentonia Gibbs Elementary is the partner school for the church for the upcoming school year.
Brightly colored donation boxes with attached supply lists will be located at businesses around the county. The Yazoo Herald is one of the sites where you may leave donations. The church is also looking for other locations to host these collection boxes.
The church kicked off the campaign with a $1,500 donation. Satartia First will buy $500 in school uniforms, $500 of school supplies and $500 in non-perishable food items for the backpack food ministry that will be part of the program.
“We’ve got to put our money where our mouth is,” said Rev. Royce Lott, senior pastor of Satartia First.
Lott is encouraging other churches and larger businesses in the county to also make donations to help area schools.
Lott said that he would also be happy to help churches establish their own Adopt-a-School program for any public school in Yazoo County. He can be reached at 601-668-4584.
