Simmons Tire Service begins its next chapter within the Yazoo business community with a new location and an expansion of services. For the past three weeks, the locally owned business has been operating out of its new location on Haley Barbour Parkway. And its owners are excited about the future, all while still providing the quality service its customers have trusted for many years.
Simmons Tire Service recently expanded its operations with the purchase of Gateway Tire and Service Center. Simmons Tire’s former owner, Bill Simmons, had a long-standing relationship with Hesselbein Tire and D and K tire, which also owned Gateway.
“Gateway was also our primary wholesaler,” said Aaron Edwards, who now owns Simmons with Wade Ward and Brent Russell. “But we were looking for more space, space for parking and for more vehicles within our bay. Gateway also handled heavy mechanic work. So, when the opportunity arrived to purchase Gateway here in Yazoo City, it was very appealing to us.”
With the recent purchase of Gateway and its move to it location on Haley Barbour Parkway, Simmons Tire will now have two bays designated for oil changes.
“What took us before about 40 minutes will now only take us about 20 minutes,” Edwards said.
Simmons Tire also added six more employees, including Brad Moss who worked for over 20 years with Gateway as its head mechanic.
“We did not have heavy mechanic work at our former location,” Edwards said. “We would always take our mechanic work to Brad Moss, who has a good reputation with the public. Brad is very trusted in the Yazoo City area, and we are excited to be able to now offer heavy mechanic work within our operation.”
Edwards said the recent expansion of Simmons Tire is yet another way to invest back into the local community.
“The good Lord opens doors,” Edwards said. “I was a lawyer, and now I am selling tires. There is no other way to explain those open doors without the Lord.”
Edwards said Simmons will be increasing its services, including on-road services particularly for the farming community.
“This new location also gives us more access,” Edwards said. “This new location will also allow us to have a showroom that we plan to have displays, lights, toolboxes and other accessories in the future.”
And, so far, the move has been well received.
“It has been fantastic since we opened on June 24,” Edwards said. “Our location is so much better, we have more space and services, and our staff has almost been rejuvenated as well.”
Simmons Tire will also continue to honor the Gateway card, which includes financing and other perks.
“We want to continue to serve our loyal customers and welcome Gateway’s customers,” Edwards said. “We believe in the community, and we want to continuing investing in the community that has been so good to us.”
