The Nation's Weather for Thursday, May 19, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Thunderstorms capable of producing hail and damaging winds
will rumble through southern Minnesota and northern Iowa
tomorrow. Spotty thunderstorms are expected from Kentucky to
Virginia and northern North Carolina. A chilly storm with
rain and mountain snow will begin to move out of the
Northwest and affect Montana. In New England, a few showers
or periods of steadier rain will make for a damp day.
Unseasonable heat will continue to roast the southern
Plains, with more records likely to fall in western and
central Texas. Heat will also expand into the Southeast,
where records could also be challenged. Locally strong
winds, very low humidity and extreme drought conditions will
lead to a high fire risk in northern Arizona, northern New
Mexico and southeastern Colorado.
