Memorial Services for Coach Ralph Allen Vanlandingham will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at BentonAcademy in Benton, MS.
Mr. Vanlandingham, age 69, passed on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.
He was born on July 28, 1951 in Dublin, MS, to the late Henry Allen and Evie Logan Vanlandingham and lived in Benton, MS. After graduating from Drew High School he furthered his education by attending Mississippi Delta Junior College and Delta State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. Ralph was a coach at Drew High Schooluntil his retirement.
Following retirement, he coached at North Sunflower Academy, Benton Academy, and Manchester Academy. He enjoyed playing golf and watching all types of sports. Ralph was known as Uncle Ralph, Big Ralph and mostly Coach Van to students and parents of kids he taught and coached.
He is survived by his sister, Anna Ruth Vanlandingham (husband Ron Gilmore) of Oxford, MS, and several cousins.
