I am writing to show that human kindness still does exist amidst all the turmoil that is going on in the world today, and that it shows up in unexpected ways.
On Tuesday, January 26, I was waiting outside my car at the vet's office (here in Yazoo) for my dog to be brought out when another dog owner and I struck up a conversation about our "babies" as she, too, waited, for her dog to come out. As my dog was brought out, along with the bill, I had "sticker" shock; and as I waited for my payment to be processed, I bemoaned the fact that the older the dogs get, the more expensive their care.
Little did I realize that the other dog owner I had just conversed with heard me; and as I pulled off, I waved goodbye to her and wished her a nice day. I did not expect to run into her again and so soon.
I had to make a stop at the Kaye’s grocery store and as I came out, this same lady called out to me from her vehicle, saying that she had been driving around looking for me. She explained that she wanted to let me know she had placed money in my car, between the seats, because her dog had not cost as much as she had anticipated.
I was literally shocked! I did not know the lady, and I had never seen her in my life before that initial meeting at the vet's office. She said that she wanted to make sure that I found the money. All I could do was say "thank you" in amazement and complete shock! A complete stranger, giving me a helping hand for no other reason than just being kind.
As I searched for the money, I was expecting maybe $10 or $20, but to my amazement, I found a $100 bill! However, when I looked up to let this lady know that I found her "gift," she was gone. I tried driving around to find the kind lady, but no luck.
All I could do was sit in my car, praise the Lord, and cry.
It is my prayer that if this letter is printed, she will see it. I want her to know that her kindness was truly appreciated, and it came at an opportune time. I have no doubt that this lady was truly an angel, and I still get chills just thinking about this chance encounter. God is good, and He was right on time!
