The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department is proud to announce the department’s progress within the first quarter of Sheriff Jeremy McCoy’s tenure.
In an effort to deter crime and make Yazoo County a safer place to live, the local department has kept busy with its visibility and proactive efforts within the community.
The department has made over 75 felony and over 125 misdemeanor arrests, including serving over 30 warrants and making over 20 DUI arrests.
“We have taken over 35 weapons off the streets,” McCoy said. “And we have seized nearly four pounds of marijuana combined over several arrests.”
McCoy said upon taking office one of his first plans included more visibility within the community and among the local youth.
“We have been active in several community functions, school operations, community health events, and are making daily attempts to be positive role models to our juvenile population by any means necessary,” McCoy said. “The support from the community has been very overwhelming, and we really appreciate your unwavering support.”
