With the exception of championship games and rivalry games, no other win means as much to a football team as a Homecoming victory.
Not only did last Friday nights 28-0 shutout victory over Discovery Christian give Manchester Academy a Homcoming win, it was also the first win of the season for the Mavericks, giving them even more to celebrate.
After a scoreless first quarter, MA quarterback Reeves Gooch connected with Adam Edgar for a 57 touchdown and a 7-0 lead.
Quinn Wright scored the first of his three touchdowns on the night on a 28 yard run and the Mavs had a 14-0 lead at the half.
Wright scored again in the third on an 18-yard run and in the fourth on a 52 yard pass from Gooch.
Joseph Beidleman led the rushing attack with 26 carries for 141 yards, followed by Edgar with 100 yards on 14 carries. Wright had 48 yards on two carries.
Gooch passed for 109 yards with 57 going to Edgar and 52 going to Wright.
Beidleman led the MA defense with 11 tackles followed by Bodie Martin with six.
MA travels to Kirk this Friday.
