In a rematch of last year’s first round playoff matchup, the Yazoo City Indians and Ripley Tigers squared off again this past Friday night in Ripley for the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Unfortunately for the Indians, the results this time around would be identical to last season, as the Tigers handed the Indians a 35-14 loss to end their season at 4-7.
The Tigers struck first against the Indians and led 7-0 after one quarter of play. The Indians scored on a Nikqwan Parker run in the second quarter but allowed Ripley to add two more themselves and trailed 21-6 at halftime.
Parker scored once more in the third quarter, hauling in a pass from quarterback Chris Burnett, but again the Tigers added to their lead with two more scores of their own.
The game went scoreless in the final frame and the Tigers advanced to the second round to play Itawamba AHS.
