The Yazoo City Indians opened conference play last week with a pair of wins over the Gentry Rams and Senatobia Warriors.
The Indians defeated the Rams at home by a score of 64-39 before picking up a 54-48 road victory over Senatobia.
Against Gentry, Yazoo City benefited from a balanced scoring attack as four Indians scored in double figures.
Jacquarrius Collum led the way with 17 points followed by Will Grayson with 16, Tamarion Hoover with 15 and Damarion Winston with 10.
Jacquaris Rogers rounded out the scoring with six points.
The Indians connected on six shots from behind the three point arc (Winston had three, Hoover, two and Collum, one).
Things started a bit slower for the Indians against the Warriors as they trailed 11-6 after one quarter.The Indians bounced back, however, with a 14-10 second quarter and trailed by just one, 21-20, at the half.
With a 19-9 third quarter surge, the Indians put the game out of reach and were able to pull away with the six point win.
Collum again led the way with 19 points followed by Grayson’s 15 and Hoover’s 12.
Rogers chipped in with six and Jakori Jones added two.
In other Yazoo City hoops news, Grayson was recently selected to participate in the annual Mississippi North-South All-Star game featuring State’s top juniors.
Grayson will play on the 4A/5A/6A North All-Stars.
The game will be played Saturday, March 19 in A.E. Wood Coliseum at Mississippi College.
