With two games remaining in the regular season, the Yazoo City Indians are searching for the reset button after dropping their last two conference games to Gentry and Greenwood High.
The Indians fell 68-46 to Gentry before dropping a close, 48-46 decision to the Bulldogs.
Yazoo City sits at 16-9 with Forest Hill (Tuesday) and Clarksdale (Friday) left to play.
Against Greenwood, the Indians trailed by one, 10-9, after one quarter of play but rallied with a 13-10 second quarter run to take a slim 22-20 lead at the half.
After the break, however, things went downhill for the Indians as they were outscored 17-7 in the third period, giving Greenwood a 37-29 lead with one quarter left to play.
The Indians again bounced back and pulled to within two with time left for one final shot.
Unfortunately, sophomore Tamarion Hoover’s three point attempt fell short as the final buzzer sounded, sending the Indians to their second straight conference loss.
Jaquarrius Collum led the Indians in scoring with 20 points followed by Damarion Winston with 10.
Hoover added nine and Jacquaris Rogers chipped in with seven.
In girls action, the Lady Indians raced out to a 14-7 first quarter lead before the Lady Bulldogs switched defenses and turned the tide of the game.
Switching to a full court press, Greenwood went on a 22-7 second quarter run and never looked back.
E’kemi Johnson was the lone Lady Indian in double figures with 18.
Zoie Baker added eight, Jaya Gallion seven, Talasia Green six, Torletta Johnson three, A’kayla Hudson two and I’lliciona White one.
