The Yazoo City Lady Indians defeated the Humphreys County Cowgirls, 52-22, in the first annual Queens on King’s Day Classic held at Yazoo City High School on Martin Luther King Day.
The Yazoo City junior varisty girls also picked up an 18-16 win over the Murrah Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Indians, now 8-13, were coming off of a loss to Clarksdale, 42-29 and a win over Greenwood, 54-7, both district contests.
Yazoo City travels to district foe Senatobia Friday.
E’kemi Johnson led the Lady Indians against Humphreys County with 17 points followed in double figures by Torletta Johnson with 10.
Other scorers were Jaya Gallion with nine, Zoie Baker with six, Jermya Porter with four, and I’liciona White, Shaniya Arrington, and Nyquisha Porter with two apiece.
E’kemi Johnson was named Player of the Game for the varsity game and White was the Player of the Game for the junior varsity game.
