Many local stores and merchants are preparing for Christmas Open House, which will be held Sunday.
The annual event kicks off the holiday shopping season for Yazoo City. “Zooville Jubilation” will be held on Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
There will be a variety of events, such as special sales, food, live entertainment and arts and crafts. The Yazoo County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau are currently preparing to have the downtown Christmas lights to come on during the evening hours following Open House.
Merchants are also making plans to make this year’s Open House a success considering the pandemic prevented last year’s celebrations.
Yazoo Drug Company will be have hourly giveaways, refreshments and a grand prize giveaway. Emma Carr, granddaughter of local artist Hope Carr, will also be there to showcase some of her artwork.
Anderson’s Jewelry is gearing up with a number of sale items. Webb’s Pharmacy will have food samples, holiday Christmas shirts, and new hand painted ornaments. Davis Feed and Seed will offer snacks and refreshments, arts and crafts for kids, live entertainment,special sales, drawings, giveaways and photographs with Santa. Blacks on 15th will be having door prizes and 20 percent off of shoes. Downtown Marketplace will offer food samples. Bowties and Tutus has many cute toys that will be a hit for Christmas such as Pop It purses, Christmas pajamas, Ring Lights and toy trucks that shoot water beads. Other stores such as VanJons, Dogwood Blossom and Good Hope Feed will also be participating in Open House and serving refreshments.
The Yazoo Arts Council has also arranged for some of the Mississippi Mass Choir members to perform during the event.
Merchants said they are very excited to show their appreciation to their customers and to continue the tradition of Open House within the community.
Open House will take place on November 7, 2021 from 1-5 p.m.
