Yazoo County has extended its order requiring masks to be worn inside county-owned buildings for another 30 days Monday.
The order does not apply to private businesses in the county.
Gov. Tate Reeves removed the state’s restrictions requiring masks with the exception of schools last week. Reeves also lifted all indoor and outdoor venue capacity restrictions.
Yazoo City still has restrictions in place inside the city limits, however.
Board president Cobie Collins said he believes county employees need the additional protection from COVID-19 because they deal with a large number of people while conducting business.
District 1 Supervisor Lee Moore said he believes it's probably time to end the mask requirements, but he is willing to support the extension of the order to be on the safe side. The extension of the order passed unanimously. District 2 Supervisor David Berry was not present at the Monday meeting.
