Ten property owners were given 30 days by the city council to clean-up their unkempt properties within Yazoo City, with city leaders calling some parcels “a menace.” Four of those properties are located within the final block on Main Street in the downtown Yazoo City. And one property owner on Main Street was given an extension of 120 days to bring her parcel up-to-code.
Public hearings concerning the properties were held during Monday’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting. Of the parcels, three property owners appealed to the city council for an extension. Two property owners were given the 30 days allowed on the city’s resolution process, while one owner was allowed 120 days.
The city’s resolution states that “the owner of the property or parcels described within this order shall be afforded a period of 30 days to clean and remedy those conditions listed by the building official as being a menace to the public health.”
