The city council suspended Police Chief Joey Head last week. And although the matter was discussed at the recent Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, no action was taken moving forward.
According to board minutes, Mayor Diane Delaware moved to suspend Head without pay for five days on March 21. Alderman Ron Johnson seconded the motion, with the remaining board members voting in favor of the suspension.
The minutes said the city council would “provide him formal notice that the Board of Mayor and Aldermen intends to discipline him further up to termination for the reason of exhibited favoritism, malfeasance and misconduct within the Yazoo City Police Department at the next regular board meeting on March 28.
The matter was discussed at Monday’s board meeting, but no action was taken.
Head declined to comment on the matter to The Herald.
