State authorities continue to search for the driver behind a fatal hit-and-run crash in Humphreys County that killed a local man on Jan. 14.
Sidney Burrough, 22, a graduate of Yazoo County High School, was killed in the accident, which occurred about 8 p.m. on Highway 49 near the Will Whittington Auxiliary Channel Bridge, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
“The victim was outside his vehicle, assessing the damage from a previous crash when a white Ford F-250 struck him,” the MHP said. “The Ford was last seen traveling north from the crash scene on Highway 49 West and should have damage to the front hood or bumper.”
Burrough was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yazoo City and worked at Planters Supply in Bentonia. He was a student at the University of Southern Mississippi, where his dream was to be a high school baseball coach. A former local baseball player and manager, he is remembered for his kind spirit, his passion for God and a generous spirit.
