The sixth grade STEM/ROBOTICS team of Manchester Academy recently participated in the MAIS State Robotics/STEM competition at the Children's Museum in Jackson. By way of the district competition held in November, the MA Robotics fourth through sixth grade team earned their way to participate in the MAIS State Robotics/STEM competition. The contest included a remote control car maze, super puzzle timed competition, virtual reality, electrical circuits, along with science and math tests, rounded out by a mystery competition in which they had to construct an object that moved the longest distance down a course. Divisions were third through fourth grades and sixth through eighth grades in the non-high school age groups. The MA sixth through eighth grade group included only sixth graders: David Williams, Asher Evans, Pierce Jones, James Aaron Sanford, Lane Evans, Michael Ledbetter, Blake Beckwith, and Myla Wallace. Manchester Academy sixth grade STEM team won first place in points overall in the category sixth through eighth grade. This means they competed against teams with older students. In addition, Lane Evans won second place overall in individual points. Thanks also to Mrs. Kristen Evans who worked with these students during first semester and attended the competition as their sponsor.
