The Yazoo City Indians moved one step closer to a second straight championship after posting a 56-41 semifinal victory over the Provine Rams Tuesday night at the Mississippi Coliseum.
The Indians led from start to finish and shot 54% from the field, 40% from three-point range and 85% from the free throw line in the win.
Leading scorers were Tamarion Hoover with 19, Damarion Winston with 18, Daveon Henry with 8 and Xaquarius Thomas with six apiece, Jacolby Little with two and Jamarion Bryant with three.
Yazoo City will now face district foe and rival Canton in the Class 5A championship game Friday night at 8 p.m. The Tigers advanced to the title game with a blowout victory over Wayne County.
The much-anticipated match-up between the rivals will be the third time this season the two teams face each other. Yazoo City won the first outing, while Canton was victorious in the second tilt.
