When Yazoo County traveled up Highway 55 last Friday in search of a district win at Winona, they were doing so without starting quarterback T.J. Rials who is currently sidelined with a high ankle sprain.
The Panther offense struggled without the veteran signal caller and the Tigers ended up giving Yazoo County a 36-12 loss.
Winona got on the board first with an 18-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion in the first quarter.
They added another score early in the second quarter before the Panthers answered back with a score of their own, a Jarrett Jasper 14 yard run. The two-point attempt failed and after another Winona TD, the score was 22-6 at the half.
Neither team scored in the third period of play but the Tigers opened the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdowns (a seven yard run and a 75 yard run) to push the lead to 36-6.
Yazoo County got on the board one more time before the final buzzer sounded on a 33-yard Jasper run.
Jasper led YCHS offensively with 92 rushing yards while completing 8-of-16 passes for 44 yards.
Cameron Williams was the leading receiver with six receptions for 39 yards.
The Panthers, 3-3, are back at home this week to face Amanda Elzy for Homecoming.
