After earning a 12-9 win over Clinton Christian, Benton Academy fell to Yazoo County 10-2 and Porter’s Chapel 5-3 for a 7-7 record on the season so far.
The Raiders came back from a five-run deficit against Clinton Christian.
Dalton Robles hit a two-run single to kick off the rally in the bottom of the third.
Clinton Christian tied the game 8-8 in the fourth inning, and Cullen McCain drove in a run to take back the lead.
Tanner Vandevere had three RBIs for BA. Robles led all batters with three hits in four at bats.
Ethan Shanks drew three walks.
Bryce Ables started on the mound for the Raiders. He surrendered four hits and nine runs (two earned) over four innings while striking out eight batters.
Robles had a strong performance in relief with no hits and three strikeouts in one and a third innings of work.
In their most recent outing, the Raiders suffered a heartbreaking loss at Porter’s Chapel who overcame a 5-3 deficit late in the game to earn the win.
Ables, Garrett Vandevere and Robles each had two hits for Benton at Porter’s Chapel. Vandevere and McCain each drove in a run for BA.
This week the Raiders were scheduled to host Humphreys on Tuesday and travel to Central Holmes on Thursday.
