The Yazoo City Indians improved to 7-0 on the season after taking a pair of impressive road wins this past weekend. The Indians participated in the Lighthouse Classic held in Corinth, MS Friday and took on the No. 2 ranked team in Alabama, the Pinson Valley Indians.
The game was close from start to finish and with the Indians from Yazoo hanging on for a 45-43 win. Damarion Winston, named the game MVP, led the way with 19 points. Daveon Henry added nine, Caleb Crozier had five, Tamarion Hoover had four, Jamarion Bryant and Roosevelt Pittman each had three and Zaquarius Thomas had two.
The Indians traveled from Corinth to Little Rock, Arkansas the following day to play in the Boys Dandy Dozen Tournament. Their opponent this day, the Parkway Panthers. Yazoo City walked away with an easy 56-31 victory over the Panthers.
Hoover led all scorers with 28 points en route to taking home MVP honors. Winston chipped in with 13, Henry, Crozier and Thomas each had four apiece, and Pittman rounded out the scoring with three.
The Indians return to action this week with a pair of rivalry games. On Friday, they take on fellow MASD school Humphreys County and Saturday they play Yazoo County.
Both games are home games for Yazoo City.
