Manchester Academy chalked up a fourth straight win by defeating Carroll Academy 13-0 Monday.
Millie Cerda earned the win on the mound for MA, giving up just one hit and no runs while striking out eight and walking just one batter in four innings of work.
The Lady Mavericks took control of the game in the first inning when Aubree Walton singled and Annabeth Merrell and Cerda walked. All three of them scored runs.
MA built on the lead with six runs on one hit in the bottom of the second inning.
Embrie Carpenter scored after tagging up. Merrell grounded out and drove in a run and Cerda, Morgan Foster, Carpenter and AnaLee Whitworth all drew walks and ended up scoring.
Emma Roberts had an RBI in the third and Cerda added another run to build on the lead.
Walton and Claire Stevens each drove in two runs to lead MA at the plate. The Lady Mavericks batters showed great discipline, drawing 15 total walks. They also came through with strong base running with 13 total stolen bases. Whitworth, Merrell, Roberts and Claire Beth Martien each had multiple stolen bases for MA.
With the win, Manchester improved to 5-2 on the season. MA opened the season with a 12-0 win over Humphreys Academy before losing a pair of game to St. Aloysius.
MA then went on to win four straight with an 11-3 win over Clinton Christion, a 10-5 win over Indianola and a 23-6 win over Indianola before Monday’s win over Carroll.
The Lady Mavericks hosted Canton Academy Tuesday. That game was not completed by press time. Manchester will travel to Greenville Christian on Monday.
