Yazoo Chapter members attended the Mississippi State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Delta District Workshop on July 27, 2017 in Winona.
Those members include Kelly Olivieri MSSDAR State Page Chairman, JoAnne Gibbs Collins MSSDAR State School Chairman, Priscilla Allen Harper MSSDAR Organizing Secretary, Janet Looney Whittington Yazoo Chapter Regent, MSSDAR Honorary State Regent and Honorary Vice President General, Montine Young Bond MSSDAR State Chaplin and Sue Patterson Yazoo Chapter Recording Secretary, Historic Preservation Chairman and Women's Issues Chairman.
Yazoo Chapter won two National Awards for 2016: Chapter Achievement Award Level 1 for their work in the Yazoo community and nationally in the areas of Education, Patriotism and Historic Preservation and a second place Award in the Southeastern Division of the United States for their Outstanding Public Relation Efforts.
As MSSDAR State School Chairman JoAnne Collins received one National Award for her Outstanding Service and three more on behalf of all the state's DAR members for giving so generously to the six DAR Schools.
Montine Bond as Chaplin gave the opening prayer and closing benediction at all District meetings.
Priscilla Allen Harper presented a program on Chapter Revitalization and Organization at all the District meetings.
These meetings are not just all work. To highlight the year of Education in DAR, a quiz game was played that gave information on the two DAR Schools: Kate Duncan Smith in Grant, AL and Tamassee in Tamassee, SC and four DAR Supported Schools: Crossnore School in Crossnore, NC, Berry College in Mt. Berry, GA, Hillside School in Marlborough, MA and Hindman Settlement School in Hindman, KY.
