Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Earl Burton of Isola announce the engagement of their daughter, Ann Claire Burton, to James Smith Stoner of Holly Bluff. Smith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shively Stoner Jr. of Holly Bluff.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sarah Hays Shelton of Ridgeland and the late John Talmage Shelton and Mrs. Earline Pullen Burton of Clarksdale and the late Morris Lee Burton.
She is a 2008 graduate of Indianola Academy and attended Mississippi State University from 2008 to 2011, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene Technology from Mississippi Delta Community College in 2013.
She is a Registered Dental Hygienist at Family Dental Care in Indianola. Miss Burton will receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Mississippi in December.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Betty Ann Stoner and the late Joe Shively Stoner, Senior of Holly Bluff and Mrs. Bettie Delaine Lewis of Madison and the late William Emmett Lewis Jr.
He is a 2006 graduate of Manchester Academy and attended Mississippi State University from 2006 to 2010, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He earned his Bachelor of Business with a concentration on International Trade and Development from Delta State University in 2012.
He operates Southern Point Planting Company and Sassy Major Company in Holly Bluff.
The couple will be united in marriage on Saturday, March 14 at First Presbyterian Church in Belzoni.
