Image Optical in Madison welcomes Dr. Nettie Rainer Hines as full-time optometrist to their staff.
A native of Yazoo City and a graduate of Jackson Preparatory School, Dr. Hines received a B.A. in physics at the University of Mississippi and completed her Optometry training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry.
When asked what inspired her to pursue optometry, Dr. Hines said, “I have been fascinated by eyes since I was a young girl. I was always asking questions like what makes eyes different colors and why do goats have rectangular pupils. I have been inserting and removing my daddy’s contact lenses since I can remember. I was the first one in my family in need of glasses at a young age, and I was amazed at how clearly I could see the world.”
In an article entitled Athletic Performance and Vision, Dr. Hines noted, “When it comes to peak visual performance during athletic activity, there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach. Just as there is no ‘one size fits all’ workout program. Visual performance can be improved!”
When she is not practicing optometry, Dr. Hines loves being around water and enjoys sailing and scuba diving.
