The Yazoo Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution members attended the 130th National Daughters of the American Revolution National Continental Congress virtually the week of June 30-July 4, 2021 from Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
The 130th Continental Congress was presided over by Denise Doring VanBuren, whose theme is to “Rise and Shine for America.” Each evening session opened with a different United States Military Band playing before the American Flag was dropped from the ceiling in an impressive ceremony.
The opening night theme was “Proud to be an American.” Lee Greenwood, singer and songwriter, was presented the DAR Founders Medal in recognition for his work on behalf of active duty military and his standard “ od Bless the USA.”
Dr. Linda Chervinsky was presented the NSDAR Excellence in American History Book Award for “The Cabinet: George Washington and the Creation of an American Institution.” Daniel Lubetsky , a naturalized citizen and son of a Holocaust survivor, received the DAR Americanism Award. As founder of KIND snacks, he also invests in organizations that help build bridges between people. During this Congress the newly restored Constitution Hall, the largest Concert venue in Washington, D.C.was unveiled.
As the NSDAR National Curator General, Janet Looney Whittington highlighted the DAR Museum. This museum has over 30,000 holdings as well as recordings of period rooms that may be viewed 24/7. The DAR Museum is NSDAR’s spectacular gift to the nation.
