The Yazoo Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution held their October 21, 2021 meeting via Zoom provided by Janet Looney Whittington.
Sue Patterson, regent, presided over the meeting. Ava Anderson Hale, registrar, reported that Membership Certificates will be presented to the following members: Bruce Cook-70 years, Snooky Hogue-60 years, Mamie Dunn-30 years, Paige Adcock-20 years, Holly Estes- 20 years and Delaine Stoner- 20 years. Congratulations!
Nancy Durham gave information on her Patriot Ancestor, Adoniriam Allen, Captain of the Continental Line in the Revolutionary War-b. 1734 d. 1838.
Priscilla Allen Harper, MSSDAR First Vice Regent, gave a report on the annual 2021 Rosalie Candlelight night and Rosalie Day held in Natchez, MS on Oct. 19-20, 2021.
Janet Looney Whittington, NSDAR Curator, reported on the special Called Continental Congress scheduled for Dec. 8, 2021.
The chapter voted to send a contribution to Bacone College in Muskogee, OK. This is one of the Indian schools supported by NSDAR. JoAnne Collins reported that all five area high schools are participating in the DAR Good Citizens Essay contest.
Sue Patterson gave an interesting program on 10 Little Known Facts about WWII . It included an entertaining slide show of her mother’s collection of WWII postcards.
