It was a special night Monday for Manchester Academy and senior guard Presley Trammell. Before the game against Canton Academy, Trammell was recognized for entering the 1,000 points scored club at Manchester. To top that off, Trammell was one of two double figure scorers in the Lady Mavs' 43-22 victory over the Canton Lady Panthers.
Anna Riley Kelly (17 points) and Trammell (14 points) led the way in the Lady Mavs' 21-point victory. MA jumped out on the Lady Panthers 13-3 after one quarter of play and went on to outscore Canton 10-5 in the second quarter to take a 23-8 lead at the half.
Manchester continued to pour it on in the third quarter, outscoring CA 14-9 before closing out the game with a 6-5 fourth quarter.
Other MA scorers were Angel Rae Carpenter and Mary Margaret Druey with three apiece, Maggie Day Ragland and Morgan Foster each with two and Sophia Jones and Alley Grace Ables with one each.
The Lady Mavs were coming off a 48-30 loss to Washington Academy. Kelly scoring 12 and Trammell with 10 were the only two Lady Mavericks to reach double digits. Druey added three, Ables and Ellie Carpenter chipped in with two apiece and Ragland rounded out the scoring with one.
