Joel Howard Collins, 86, passed from this life to his eternal home in Heaven on September 9, 2025 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS, following a brief illness.
He was born on February 7, 1939 in Tyronza, Arkansas to Charles Clifton and Agnes Collins.
Joel was a retired business owner and longtime catfish farm manager, as well as an avid deer hunter. He was a member of the Yazoo City Church of Christ, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone he met.
Following a sudden illness event, he moved from Yazoo City to Humphreys County Nursing Center in Belzoni, where he came to feel very much at home.
Preceding him in death are his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Jeanette Collins; his parents; sons, Lenny Howard Collins and Stanley Clayton Collins; one grandson; and one great-great granddaughter; sister, Sandra Smith; and brothers, Dexter Collins and Jon Collins.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sharon Collins Waters of Yazoo City; son, Richard Nathan Collins, Sr. (Juanita) of Star; five grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Pipes and Judy Goad, both of Arkansas.
Mortimer Funeral Home in Belzoni handled arrangements. A memorial and celebration of life will be observed at a later date.
