Jerry Burton Montgomery, 84, of Benton, passed away on June 5, 2025. He was born on November 7, 1940, to Thay and Kathleen Montgomery.
On March 18, 1965, he married the love of his life, Carol Ketchum, at Midway Baptist Church. Together, they raised three children: Cindy, Robin, and Brent. Jerry dedicated many years of service to MP&L before becoming owner of B&J Trading Company in Yazoo City, where he worked until his retirement in 2018.
Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors, mowing grass, and tending to his garden. He was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Haslob; his parents, Thay and Kathleen Montgomery; and his brother, Brent Montgomery.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol Montgomery; daughter, Robin Montgomery Williams (Ben); son, Brent Montgomery (Renee); grandchildren, Nikki Haslob, A.B. Williams, Jenson Williams, William Montgomery, Lelani Montgomery, Dakota Dearing (Sarah), and Hannah Montgomery; and great-grandchildren, Trent and Brooklyn Montgomery. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Switzer.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on June 9, 2025, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church. All arrangements are under the direction of Stricklin King Funeral Home.
