James Steven Carter, affectionately known as Bubba, went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 30, 2025, surrounded by friends and family.
Bubba was born on November 16, 1958, in Yazoo Count to J. W. “Tootsie” Carter and Joyce Carter. He worked in a variety of fields and served as a minister and pastor for over 30 years. The was known for always offering a helping hand and for his musical talent, which he used in his ministry.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, J. W. Carter, Jr. Joyce Carter; stepson, Jonathan Burns; and his brother-in-law, Willard Dale Ketchum.
Bubba is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Carter of over 32 years; his children, Dana (Trey) Pierce of Belzoni, Amber (Mark) Aylesworth of Pearl, Steven Carter, Jr. (Jessica) of Jackson; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Rainey (Brandon) of Kosciusko. He is also survived by his loving sister, Brenda Ketchum; seven grandchildren; and a great grandson; father-in-law, Billy Bruce; mother-in-law, Robbie Bruce; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
The family wants to thank everyone who visited and called since Bubba’s diagnosis and passing. We sincerely appreciate your help and comfort during this difficult time. The family also wants to give a special thank you to Mrs. Lizzie and Mrs. Lucille, his sitters, that treated him as their ow. The family would also like to thank Accent Care of Flowood for is hospice care, which would also include the special care of his hospice nurse and loving daughter, Amber Alyesworth.
