If you happen to be transporting drugs through the country on a train, you might want to consider being a well-behaved traveler.
That was not the case in a recent arrest made by local officers after an irate Amtrak passenger led to a drug arrest and possible trafficking charges.
Sara Jahedi was charged with felony possession of controlled substances, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia after Yazoo City officers arrested her last Wednesday.
Police Chief Terry Gann said she could also be facing trafficking charges.
Gann said the Yazoo City Police Department received a report of a disorderly passenger on the incoming Amtrak.
“We received a report of a disgruntled passenger on the train who had allegedly assaulted someone and took their cell phone,” Gann said. “The train stopped in Yazoo City, and the passenger was escorted off the train. We asked for her identification, and she refused. So, we first took her into custody and charged her with disorderly conduct and failure to comply.”
But once the suspect arrived at the local police station, the situation took a turn.
“We searched her bags and discovered marijuana, other controlled substances and paraphernalia,” Gann said. “She remains uncooperative with us. But we believe she was from the Chicago area, which was where she boarded the train.”
Gann said the suspect could also be facing trafficking charges.
